Andrés Gomm is the founder and visionary behind Harmonic Art, where engineering precision meets musical soul. With over a decade of experience crafting handpans, Andrés has become a respected leader in the world of melodic percussion—known for instruments that sing with clarity, depth, and resonance.

Trained as a Mechatronic Engineer, Andrés brings a rare fusion of technical mastery and artistic intuition to his work. His deep knowledge of materials and form allows him to shape steel into instruments that are not only sonically rich, but also spiritually inspiring—each one a finely tuned sound sculpture designed to elevate musical expression and inner stillness.

Beyond his expertise in engineering and design, Andrés is also a skilled handpan tuner and player. His hands don’t just build instruments—they bring them to life. Fluent in both Spanish and English, and with roots in Colombia and Spain, Andrés bridges cultures and communities through sound, connecting people across the world through the universal language of music.

OUR STORY

Always in Search of Inspiration

In the year 2014, in the city of Medellín, Colombia, Harmonic Art was born from the vision of its founder, Andrés Gomm—a mechatronic engineer and passionate musician with a dream to create instruments that could move the soul. From the beginning, music and craftsmanship came together in perfect harmony, giving life to unique handpans. Each strike on the metal echoed a deep desire: to bring magical sounds into the world.

Early on, Andrés devoted countless hours to experimenting with forms, materials, and tuning techniques. His dedication led to the creation of the first Harmonic Art handpans—resonant instruments praised for their purity, depth, and beauty. What started in a small workshop soon evolved into a global mission.

The year 2015 marked a turning point as Harmonic Art expanded into Europe, forming key partnerships that brought its sound to more music lovers around the world. In 2016, a milestone alliance with Meinl Percussion further deepened Harmonic Art’s connection with the global handpan community, strengthening its commitment to precision and artistry.

Driven by that same passion, the company expanded its production capacity for high-quality handpans in 2018, making its instruments more accessible than ever while preserving the craftsmanship that defines them. By 2021, Harmonic Art reached a new peak with the sale of its first 10,000 handpans, a powerful testament to its dedication and the resonance of its work.

In 2022, a strategic partnership with Schlagwerk expanded Harmonic Art’s global reach, enhancing distribution and allowing its handpans to find homes in every corner of the world.

Playing the Harmonic

Top Shell: At its center lies the distinguished “ding” note, surrounded by tone fields—each tuned to include a fundamental pitch, an octave, and a compound fifth. Tap different parts of a field to reveal shimmering harmonic overtones: the long side releases the octave; the short side unveils the fifth.

Bottom Shell: Inspired by traditional Ghatam and Udu drums, the bottom shell features a Helmholtz resonator port that delivers a deep, sustained bass or a punchy low thump, depending on your touch. A double-curved rim and protective rubber ring enhance comfort and protect the instrument during transport.
